This shield keeps the case wrapped tightly, using smartly joint parts that assimilate 2 layers with each other. If you love to hike or do dirty job, this phone case will definitely prove a good safe guard.
On the other hand, it is really heavy and it causes difficulty to those who have small hands. In case, you have got oil on the rubber case, you will face real problem and phone will keep on slipping from hand.
The last thing which disturbs is the thickness of the OtterBox Iphone defender phone case. It is impossible for me often to touch the keys in the corner of the screen. This way, I am unable to press the keys put on the edge of the screen when I want to type in portrait mode, so I am compelled to use landscape mode and I am really bad in landscape mode. It is really not a deal killer though it definitely gets tiring after sometime. However, I would rather handle the inconvenience than broken or shuttered phone.
So, in the end as a conclusion I would definitely recommend this product to those who are interested in buying this OtterBox Iphone defender phone case.

Otterbox, A company whom is recognized as a profitable innovator of cases for the Apple iPhone 4 cell phone, has various brands which it showcases. Of the various different lines of cases in which OtterBox sells, we would like to look at the OtterBox Commuter series. This is our OtterBox Commuter review for the iPhone 4.
As we began our OtterBox Commuter review of the case the 1st feature we researched was the material. The commuter casing is constructed with a non-slip plastic formally referred to as “polycarbonate”, closely followed with a layer of tough silicon within the middle layers. For those who are not acquainted with the word “Polycarbonate”, Polycarbonate is a heavily hardened plastic on steroids. While it is used in multiple applications, it is known well for having uses in more popular items like bullet proof glass or a compact disk.
OtterBox obviously is not trying to protect your iPhone from a massive hail of gunfire, for if they were they are losing out on the market and YOU SHOULDN’T be buying iPhone cases, but possibly investing into life insurance….All jokes aside, there is a purpose for such tough material. Polycarbonate is known as a very hard plastic with very little weight, perfect for a iphone. Also, it is known to be almost unbreakable, making it a clever choice. So pairing Polycarbonate with your important iphone is a great way to make sure no harm comes to your smart iphone. 1 bad thing however regarding this material is even though it gives unreal protective quality to your iPhone, this material is quite a bit more expensive than that of its rivals, acrylic and glass. If you had not already guessed, this is bad because it is shown in the retail price, which we personally would think is high for a case. An additional thing to think about though is you are purchasing quality when you buy Otterbox, not trash, so like anything else you can expect a higher pricing. This is the first thing we covered during our OtterBox Commuter review.
The secondary thing we reviewed during our OtterBox Commuter review was the fit of its casing. Similar to other OtterBox products for people who have tried the more popular “Defender Series”, this case has that “bulkiness” to it. It pails in accompaniment to its big brother, “The Defender” however it is big none the less. Truly, this is one of those “cases” where “size doesn’t matter”. Are we right ladies? OK, bad joke, we know. Anyway, the Commuter does an adequate job of protecting the whole iphone, leaving outlets for all access ports and allowing easy access to those areas by folding back when desired. The iPhone is defended on the inside from the silicon which is securely pressed once fitted corrected, to absorb shock damage should the phone get slammed or dropped. The case is extremely tight and does not slip even remotely once installed successfully, a big plus in our humble view. On the negative side, the phone can be quite hard on your ear for long calls if your the more sensitive type. Nothing big though. The typical OtterBox circle for Apple’s logo on the back remains sadly, not all of us like sporting the Apple logo even though we bought an iPhone 4. As for the fit, installation, and feel of the phone, we think it was above average. However in the future, we hope they work on making it slightly more easy for the ear in future releases. Next time we do another OtterBox Commuter review, hopefully they will have improved on this.
Looking back, if we had to rate this case in numbers during our OtterBox Commuter Review, we would rate it a 7.5/10. It is a awesome case and essentially a more up to date and manageable “Defender” style case. Really what it comes down to is your need. For example, If you are a construction worker, most would imagine your iphone is going to see a lot of un-usual punishment. While the Commuter would do fine we think, you should look into upgrading to a “Defender” case. The “Defender” series is pretty much short of a military grade TANK for your iphone , but you will be carrying a brick around with you. For everybody else, the Commuter works. In conclusion, we hope you enjoyed our OtterBox Commuter review. We feel it is some of the best protection for iphone 4.

Okay, well maybe Otterbox does not manufacture bullet proof cases just yet but they have perfected the creation of an environmentally resistant case along with a built in crash tested crumple zone case. Otterbox is at the forefront of cell phone protection. They have extended beyond iPhones to include cases for other cell phone manufacturers and tablet computers.
The Otterbox product line currently consists of 4 different models that span the protection spectrum. They include the following:
The Defender Series (maximum environmental protection from the elements)
“The Defender series is rugged, essential smartphone protection. This case is made of a clear protective membrane, high impact polycarbonate shell and durable silicone. It provides added protection against scratches, dust, drops, bumps and shock.”
While this case is not waterproof it has all of the ports covered in silicone allowing for a significant barrier of penetration by moisture, dirt and grime.

How do you get the otterbox defender case to work with the ihome?
I have the otterbox defender case for my iphone 3gs. The thing is that i really want an ihome but everyone i try at the store, the part that goes into the iphone wont reach because of the case. Does anyone know of a solution to this other than taking off the case or grinding the case down?
